The Ambulatory Centers for the Prevention and Care of AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (CAPASITS) are health units that provide prevention and promotion services as a fundamental part of their functions, the specialized care of patients is carried out under criteria of confidentiality, equality, respect, absence of discrimination and stigmatization, emphasizing the prevention and control of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
As part of the strategies, the HIV and Other Sexually Transmitted Infections Program is continuously testing for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C in 2022, testing are applied with pre- and post-test counseling, supported by social work assessment, nursing approach and delivery of results by the field of psychology, with subsequent medical assessment in most cases, in addition to intervention in health promotion.
This same process is implemented in the care of people referred to medical and health units, or of the population who come to seek care for sexually transmitted infections. Once the existence of a disease has been confirmed, treatment is administered and in the event of exclusion, support and follow-up are provided.
During this year, the strategy of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PREP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for ARV treatment to avoid HIV infection began. And currently, the state program for the elimination of the hepatitis C virus is being developed, offering counseling, rapid testing, confirmatory testing and free treatment.
