Almost immediately after the Mediterranean diet became known as healthier, people realized how much food matters to health. Although this new dietary habit has been hyped heavily, it does not offer all the nutrients and health benefits of a balanced diet, even the so-called superfoods.

1. Carrots
As beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A by your body, a surplus of vitamin A does not exist. A high level of beta-carotene in the body can lead to a disease called carotenemia, which causes your skin to turn yellow. As carotene is processed, it gradually disappears and poses no risk.
